12 Rounds

I stopped watching WWE programming ever since Chris Benoit shocking death but to be really exact, WWE programming started to become crap ever since The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin retired from the ring. In came John Cena, someone who WWE wanted to mould into as a combination of both. His first movie The Marine was pretty crappy in terms of acting and the storyline. Although 12 rounds revolves around a similar pattern of an unintentional hero, I’m pleased to say this movie doesn’t suck that bad. It’s good to note that Cena didn’t use any of his wrestling move here, nobody want to see the FU (Attitude Adjuster) or STFU or even the very lame Five Knuckle Shuffle on the big screen. Aidan Gillen plays the role of the villian perfectly. Smart, witty and downright sadistic in a very classy way. He even had the passing resemblance to a young Richard Gere.

The story revolves around a normal street patrol cop, Danny Fisher who manage to arrest an International terrorist, Miles Jackson but with a very costly collateral damage when Miles’s girlfriend Erica Kessen was killed by running into an oncoming car. This led to Miles swearing revenge on Danny. 1 year later,  Miles broke out from prison and kidnap Danny’s gf, Molly Potter. Thus begin a 12 round of game that Danny must win in order for Molly to stay alive. This is where the plot thickens, when near the end the whole 12 round of game is actually a cover up for another scheme to steal money from the Bureau of engraving and printing. I was pretty surprised with the plot because I never saw it coming. It’s a watchable movie .. does feel like a die hard ripoff at some point though.

Breakfast with My Parents

Every Sunday morning before church is the time I spent with my parents (they’re none Christian, yet). Last Sunday we went to Yeow Kee at Premier 101 and I must say the waiting time is too darn long and although the place is clean and nice they don’t have Kolo Mee on offer which I think is sad. A kopitiam that doesn’t serve Kolo Mee should not be in Kuching at all. This morning we went to C121 or something like that. It’s the coffeeshop that is opposite the new Stutong Market. The place is buzzing with people but the serving time is quite efficient. I had Kolo Mee of course but it doesn’t seem to taste that good actually. There is too much mee in one normal bowl and it’s pricey at RM3.20 a bowl. I could still remember the time I pay RM 1.70 for a packet of kolo mee not too long ago, sadly that stall at stutong resettlement already close shop de.

Watched this a few days ago and I quite like it a lot. Any movie with will ferrell are sure to tickle that funny bone. I enjoyed his performance in Talladega Night with Ricky Bobby and Semi-Pro so much so that I watch those movies more than once. Step Brothers is a story about a son of a divorced mother and a son of a widowed father who became step brother when both their respective parent married one another. Being a slapstick buddy comedy .. some of the scene in the movie are down right ridiculous … from scrotum rubbing the drum … to having sex with your step brother’s sister in law in the family house and even during christmas dinner… to 2 adult being bullied to lick white dog shit by a bunch of kids. I love the cameo by Seth Rogen, it was a nice touch. Great family value movie but not suitable for kids, although there wasn’t any nudity (unless you count hanging scrotum as nudity) but the sexual references are just too much sometimes.

Wimbledon is nearing it’s conclusion, with women’s single contested by the Williams Sisters while the men’s singles will be contested by Roger Federer and Andy Roddick. I was rooting for Andy Murray though .. to finally be the first british to win Wimbledon since a very long long time ago. Honestly I think had Murray get past Roddick in the semi then he would have great chance for it because Murray had such a great run as of late against Federer.
